The results show that the flotation recovery of hematite is about 75% at 1×10-4 M sodium oleate while at the same concentration the recovery is about 40 50% for C 12 amine and sodium dodecyl sulphate. The maximum flotation recovery of 90% is attained at 5×10-4 M sodium oleate concentration.

The flotation results indicated that collector sodium oleate (NaOL) shows little selectivity for the separation of specularite and chlorite. In contrast, the separation of specularite can be achieved with no depressant required when PG was used as the collector.

Dodecyl amine acetate was used as a collector to float siliceous gangue while depressing hematite using the freshly synthesized caustic starch as a depressant. …

Magnetic separation is typically used for the separation of different minerals particles with higher magnetic susceptibility, which renders the separation and extraction of fine weakly magnetic particles difficult. Compared to the first two methods, flotation generates large amounts of wastewater, thereby polluting the environment.

The physical way is low-cost and has little impact on the environment. Firstly, most impurity minerals are sorted out to purify kaolin. 1. Magnetic separation methods. Magnetic separation is the primary physical iron removal method. Iron mineral impurities in kaolin usually have weak magnetic properties and can be removed by magnetic …

Reverse flotation of hematite from a local silica sand ore has been investigated using a batch, bench-scale mechanical flotation cell The effects of various operating parameters such as type and concentration of collectors, type of acid, pH, conditioning time, solid-in-pulp concentration, particle size and temperature have been …

Captive bubble contact angle and micro-flotation experiments indicated that amine has an affinity towards both hematite and quartz, and that the role of starch is to hinder the adsorption of amine at the hematite surface so that flotation is inhibited. Micro-flotation results confirmed that quartz does not have affinity towards starch at pH 10.5.

Flotation is mainly used to separate feldspar from silica sand, and can also be used to remove clay minerals such as mica and secondary iron from silica sand. The most typical process is to use hydrofluoric acid as the activator, and use an amine cationic collector for flotation under strong acidity (pH=2~3).

The results showed that the separation of hematite from silica sand by reverse flotation is possible and good selectivity can be achieved. Experimental data indicate that a larger amount of hematite can be removed from quartz in the presence of hydrochloric acid at elevated temperatures.

At present, hematite typical dressing process have three kind: continuous milling-week magnetic-strong magnetic-anion reverse flotation, stage grinding-coarse & fine separation-gravity-magnetic-anion reverse …

Flotation was used to recover asphalt from tar sands with low-energy consumption at normal temperature of 25–50 °C, and the treatment efficiency was the same as that of using chemicals to clean the tar sands at 80 °C [ 27 ].

However, the efficient flotation separation of hematite ore is still an important problem in the field of mineral processing. In order to improve the resource utilization efficiency of hematite, some other methods are required to improve the flotation separation of hematite from gangue minerals.

Generally, the flotation performance of mineral particles in a wide size range is usually poor, which can be attributed to the high reagent consumptions and low floatability differences between valuable and gangue minerals. Classification flotation is an effective method for improving the flotation efficiency of particles in a wide size range and is …
